CLIPRAIDER Clips guide
How to clip a video for free.
A practical way to turn a longer recording into short moments without an account or subscription. CLIPRAIDER Clips processes supported video in your browser and gives you candidates to review.
Clip a video freeThis guide assumes you own or are authorized to use the source video.
Step by step
Four steps from a long recording to a short clip.
- Choose a sourceUse a direct MP4 URL that allows browser access, or select an MP4 file already on your device.
- Let CLIPRAIDER Clips analyze itThe browser extracts audio, loads the local transcription model when needed, and creates timestamped transcript segments.
- Review suggested momentsTranscript keywords, sentence density, segment length, and audio energy rank up to three non-overlapping 30–60 second windows.
- Preview and downloadWatch each generated MP4, download clips individually, or use Download all clips for ready results.
Before you paste a link
Direct MP4 means the file itself.
A direct MP4 URL points to the video file, often ending in `.mp4` or returning a video content type. A watch page, shortened link, embed page, login page, or redirect is not the same thing. CLIPRAIDER Clips cannot turn those pages into a source file.
Remote sources also need browser access, including compatible cross-origin headers. If a link fails, choose the authorized MP4 file locally instead. CLIPRAIDER Clips does not bypass access controls or download arbitrary platform pages.
Set expectations
Free and local still has real limits.
60-minute cap
Sources longer than 60 minutes are rejected before expensive local processing begins.
Desktop recommended
FFmpeg and transcription use memory. Desktop Chrome is the most practical starting point for long videos.
Suggestions need review
Scoring finds candidates; it does not understand every joke, context, audience, or editorial goal.

Questions, answered
How to clip a video for free FAQ
Can I clip any video for free?
You should only process videos you own or are authorized to edit and share. CLIPRAIDER Clips currently accepts direct MP4 URLs and local MP4 files, not arbitrary video-platform watch pages.
Does CLIPRAIDER Clips accept a normal video page URL?
No. The current version needs a direct MP4 URL that the browser can fetch, or an MP4 file selected from your device. A watch page or redirect is not a direct video source.
How long can a video be?
CLIPRAIDER Clips caps source videos at 60 minutes. Browser memory, model loading, and device performance can still make shorter videos more comfortable to process.
